STAYin(g)Rural goes Virtual - October 2020

The recent coronavirus pandemic and the guidance to 'stay at home' has resulted in a very different working environment during 2020.

The recent coronavirus pandemic has affected the progression of the study in different ways, and ‘lockdown’ in all three countries has meant that meeting in person has become almost impossible during 2020. However, thanks to modern day technology we have been able to keep in touch 'virtually'; both with each other, and also with other researchers in this field (see more information on Annett's recent contribution at the virtual 17th IMISCOE Annual Conference, Luxembourg, June 30 – July 2, 2020 here).

The third project meeting had been arranged for June 2020 in Groningen, hosted by the Dutch partners. Similar to the interviews, it was necessary to temporarily postpone this meeting in the hope of travel restrictions being lifted later in the year. However, once we acknowledged the limited likelihood of this happening, we decided to 'go virtual'.

During the meeting, presentations were made on a variety of different topics; including the key findings emerging from each of the study areas (stay tuned for more information on this!), and progress being made on each of the projects work packages. Importantly, plans were also put in place for advancing the second phase of data collection - the upcoming interviews which are due to start in the coming weeks.
