Transcript:

President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ian Greer:

The eyes of the world will be on our university from the 17-19 April, as we will be hosting a major conference to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Belfast / Good Friday Agreement here at Queen’s University.

Through this event, we will bring together key local, national and global figures, including the remaining lead architects of the Belfast / Good Friday Agreement.

The conference will provide an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the agreement, and to discuss the challenges and the solutions needed to drive forward a peaceful and prosperous future for our region.

Hosting this conference reflects the status of Queen’s as a world-leading university, a university that's in a unique position to organize and deliver such a significant and historic event.

The conference, Agreement 25 - ‘The Dynamics of Peace: Reflections on the Achievements, Legacies and Implications of the 1998 Belfast / Good Friday Agreement', will run over three days on the main site campus.

Our university community will be part of this momentous occasion.

We are pleased to invite you to apply for tickets to attend the event on both Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 April. Tickets are limited and will be allocated by ballot. You can find out more on our dedicated Agreement 25 webpages.

I know you will join me in feeling an immense sense of pride that Queen’s is hosting this hugely important event for Northern Ireland. This is only possible through the dedication and support of our students, our staff and our alumni.

As we Reflect, Renew and Reimagine, let’s work together to show Queen’s University and Northern Ireland at their very best to millions of people across the globe.
