Queen’s Professor appointed to the Scientific Committee of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights
Professor Colin Harvey, Director of the Human Rights Centre at Queen’s and Commissioner on the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission, has been appointed to the Scientific Committee of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA).
The Committee is composed of eleven independent human rights experts who are tasked with advising FRA on its work of protecting and promoting human rights in the EU.
Commenting on his appointment, Professor Harvey said: “It is a genuine honour and privilege to be appointed to this EU expert advisory role. This is a significant and challenging moment for human rights across Europe and I hope to be of assistance in supporting the vital work of the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights.”
The FRA is a Vienna-based independent agency of the EU and was established in 2007.
