New senior appointment: Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Engineering and Physical Sciences

Queen's President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Ian Greer, is pleased to announce the following new senior appointment:

Professor Geert Dewulf has been appointed as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC) for the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS).

In this role, Geert will lead on strategy, operations and financial management for the EPS Faculty, driving innovation and promoting a culture of high-performance and continuous improvement to deliver its contribution to Queen’s Strategy 2030, and will also lead on strategic partnerships with national and international government departments, industry stakeholders and regional growth deals. Reporting directly to the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, he will be a member of the University Management Board.

A Professor of Civil Engineering with a focus on construction management, Geert is currently Chief Development Officer of the University of Twente, overseeing all aspects of innovation and development for the University, including enhancing non-governmental funding. He was previously Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Technology of the University of Twente between 2013 and 2020.

Geert has been Principal Investigator on various large scale research projects such as those funded by Horizon 2020 and the Dutch National Science Foundation (NWO) and was the Scientific Director of PSI Bouw, a c. £28.7 million Dutch innovation programme involving industry, government and HE. He has held visiting professorships at Stanford University and Madras Institute of Technology.
