In Pictures: Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

Mental Health Awareness Week took place from Monday 13 to Friday 17 May, with a range of wellbeing and sporting events centred around the theme of 'Movement'.

The feature event was the panel discussion, 'Moving the Dial on Mental Health', held in Queen's Film Theatre, which was facilitated by noted BBC/ITV commentator Mark Robson, who told his own story about mental health. The panel consisted of internal and external speakers in mental health and movement, Dr Shirley McCay, OLY MBE, World Cup silver medalist and Olympian for Ireland in hockey; David Babington, Chief Executive of Action Mental Health; Karl Oakes, Head of Queen’s Sport; Dr Gift Sotonye-Frank, Lecturer in Law at Queen’s and keen runner; and Queen’s alumna Dr Aisling Gough, a qualified menopause specialist and women’s health columnist, and Instagram's 'the Healthy Little Lifter'.

Other events included walking tours of Queen's Quarter and Friar's Bush Cemetery, a circus activities event on the Quad – provided by Belfast's 'Circusful' circus school – a Dance Yourself Fit class, and an ice-cream van. Queen's Sport also offered Staff Dodgeball, Zumba, Pilates, Tone & Trim, Football, Campus Run and Badminton.
