Dr Lezley-Anne Hanna awarded Principal Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy
Dr Lezley-Anne Hanna, a Senior Lecturer (Education) from the School of Pharmacy, has just been awarded Principal Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA, now part of Advance HE).
Dr Hanna previously received Senior Fellowship in 2017 and a National Teaching Fellowship in 2018.
Principal Fellow applicants must provide evidence of a sustained and effective record of impact in relation to teaching and learning at a strategic level, both within their Higher Education institution and in (inter)national settings. Moreover, Principal Fellowship is increasingly sought by employers as a criterion of appointment and promotion for education-related management and leadership positions.
To date, only five staff across the University have been awarded HEA Principal Fellowships. Indeed, while there are 112,000 Fellows in the world, just over 1,000 of these are Principal Fellows. This is, therefore, a significant achievement which enhances the institution's reputation for educational excellence and leadership.
Commenting on the prestigious award, Lezley-Anne said:
"I am absolutely delighted to receive HEA Principal Fellow status in recognition of my educational leadership within pharmacy and found the application process to be a valuable and reflective learning experience. I thank the many students, staff, and members of the pharmacy profession with whom I have had the pleasure to work, and particularly want to acknowledge the Centre for Educational Development team for their ongoing support, encouragement and guidance."
