Queen's Clinical Skills Education Centre Wins Randox Healthcare Award
The Clinical Skills Education Centre (CSEC)at Queen's has come up trumps at the Randox Healthcare Awards.
Congratulations to Queen's Clinical Skills Education Centre (CSEC), part of the Centre for Medical Education, which has won an award at the Randox Healthcare Awards.
The Simulated Eye Clinic team won the 'Training in Healthcare Award', at the Stormont Hotel on 12 January 2017. The Simulated Eye Clinic has been running for the past three years as an exercise for final-year Medicine students.
The clinic presents students with five clinical scenarios, including patients acting out ophthalmic complaints, one unique PC-based virtual case and an 'on-call station'.
It gives students supervised opportunities to practise their skills in an outpatient-like setting, and to rehearse non-technical skills such as team work, communication and decision-making, all in a safe environment.
