QUEEN'S SHORTLISTED FOR THREE RIBA NI AWARDS
Three Queen’s buildings have been shortlisted in this year’s RIBA Northern Ireland regional awards
The Graduate School, the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine and the David Keir Student Hub and Auditorium have all made the shortlist. They are among five schemes shortlisted for this year’s awards.
Designed by Consarc, the Graduate School opened in 2015 in the refurbished grade B listed, Lynn Building and provides a hub for Queen’s thriving postgraduate community.
The Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine is a major strategic new-build project that continues the programme of expansion in biomedical research facilities on the Health Sciences Campus.
Designed by Burwell Deakins Architects, the David Keir Student Hub and Auditorium has created a new collaborative learning environment and engaging place for students to work.
Director of Estates Damien Toner said: “The quality of the University’s estate is one of our most important assets and it is particularly gratifying that the three shortlisted projects cover such a wide variety of schemes that clearly illustrate the diversity of the University’s capital programme that has included investment of over £350m in the last ten years.”
The winners will be announced in mid-April.
