Associate Professor Sarah Clement

Dr Sarah Clement was involved in drafting the Groundswell proposal as co-lead for WP6 at the University of Liverpool before relocating to Australia. She contributed to the research protocol and continues to offer expert input, with an interest in supporting collaborations with urban greening projects in Liverpool (e.g., Urban GreenUP) and in Australia.

Dr Clement is an Associate Professor in Environmental Policy at the Australian National University and a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the University of Liverpool, where she previously led the university's role in the Horizon 2020 project Urban GreenUP. This European Commission-funded initiative explores the impacts of nature-based solutions in cities, including Liverpool. Her expertise lies in environmental governance, focusing on policy and decision-making for improved societal and environmental outcomes. Her research covers two areas: governance in the Anthropocene—particularly biodiversity, climate change, and natural hazards—and the role of nature-based solutions in tackling ecological and socio-economic challenges, especially in biodiversity, climate adaptation, and public health. She currently leads an Australian Research Council project on decision-making for wildfires, conservation, and climate resilience.
