Race Equality Week 2024 at Queen's - 5 Day Challenge
Race Equality Week took place between 5th – 11th February 2024.
Race Equality Matters – The 5 day Challenge
When: 5th – 9th February
Where: online resources (access here)
The QGI-REC team took part in the 5 day challenge and we asked staff and students to get involved.
Five reasons to get involved in the 5 day challenge:
- Personal growth – the challenge offers an opportunity for personal growth and self-reflection. It encourages us to examine our own biases, beliefs and behaviours which in turn allows us to be more aware of how each of us can contribute to a more equitable society.
- Education – it provides valuable, educational resources about race and racism which can help us to gain a deeper understanding of the experiences of marginalised communities.
- Awareness raising – by participating and sharing experiences during the 5 day challenge, we can help to raise awareness of racial equity issues and shine a light on the work that is already going on in this space across Queen’s.
- Connections – taking part in the challenge will allow us to make connections, and grow our network of staff and students who are working to improve racial equity at the University and make a positive difference.
- Promoting change – the Race Equality Matters 5 day challenge aims to inspire as many of us as possible to carry out small, tangible actions that will collectively help to make a difference in addressing racial inequity at Queen’s, and across our society. Each of us has a role to play and even a small effort can lead to meaningful change.
